Choosing a Domain Name

Thank you all again for the well wishes. Right now I'm about to launch a website for this artist residency dream of mine, but I want to choose a really good name.

The company itself will be called, "Brusnik Artist Residency"

And I want a really good domain name. I'm afraid www. brusnikresidency .org would be too long.

What you all think of it? Is www. brusnikart .org better? Would it make sense?

What about the .org part? would it look better as www. brusnikresidency .sk, or www. brusnikart .sk ?

Any opinions or other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

Make it easy to remember. Keep it as close to the actual name as possible. I know when I am searching I always plug in the actual name first. I tend to get frustrated if it is difficult to remember. Thats why when we choose our domain name we kept to our studio name. Now everybody can find it just by plugging in our name.

I've got no experience in this matter, but Masterwks' advice sounds good. If I were to guess the website name for Ensemble Studios (they're a game company), I'd guess 'ensemblestudios.com' not 'ensemble.com' :]

And by the way, it IS ensemblestudios.com :P.

Brusnikresidency doesn't sound bad. :]

good advice, but then should it be www. brusnikresidency .com or www. brusnikartistresidency .com ?

And com, org, or sk?

>com is always best. That is where people look first. They still really dont know much about the others. As far as the name you have to think about what they would search for to find you. Will they just put in Brusnik Residency or will they put in Brusnik Artist Residency? I think probably the first, unless the full name is the longer.
For example our studio name is Masterworks Photography, that is also our domain name www.masterworksphotography. com . Most people are going to type in our full name into Google rather than just Masterworks. Make it as close to the name as possible.

What they all said. Make it catchy and have a good rhythm, too.

Completely off-topic: the other day I had a dream I met you and your family. Only you looked like this motorcycle dude my mom works with and your son had a little baby afro o_O

HAHAHAHA!!!! I've never touched a motorcycle, but still, cool. I forget what I dreamed the other night, I think it was some sort of spy movie. Sometihng in an office building and elevator.

Anywho, I've posted a couple polls on other forums and overwhelmingly, people like brusnikart.org, so it's probably gonna be that.

I like bresnikart.com, or org, too. Is 'net' right out, then? I did not see it in your list.

-- and what's this about an artist residency plan? . . . ^.^ I am just curious.

It's my dream, really. I want to open a residency here in Slovakia. It would be the dream job for me. I'd get artists from other places to come here and just work, work work. They'd pay fees for rent and studio space - costing less per month than most places in the UK, etc, and there'd be special trips to parks, mountains, castles, etc. The selling point would be you'd pay the same here as you would for rent in the UK, but you'd also get studio space, a computer lab, artist library, trips, and fellow artists to work with. Given enough time and study, I'd also put together some teaching workshops. Doing this, I could stop teaching English, get more free time to work, and finally live the life I want.
